Does a Black Dahlia really exist?

The Dahlia, which is found in the high plains in Mexico, is the national state flower of Mexico. There are many different varieties and colors, but does a black dahlia actually exist?
The short answer is no. The dahlia does not have a black species. The hue of the purple or burgundy dahlia flower is so deep, people just call it black. But, if you get a chance to see one up close, you can see it is not really black at all.
History tells us the Dahlia plants were first discovered by Francisco Hernandez around around 1570 in Mexico. Although the indigenous people were already using this plant for medicinal reasons as well as for food, Hernandez was the first one to actually record this plant.
Our Medianoche Soy Candle, which has a floral type scent, comes in a black, ceramic style jar. The Black Dahlia is one of the inspirations for this color jar.
